New Year, New Goals, New Mindset

Share
Hello Everyone,

This year, I will prove myself and make those people who have lost faith in me to believe in me once again. Lately I have been inspired and God has granted me the motivation I needed to continue to pursue my dreams no matter what no one says or whatever obstacles I may confront along the way.

In addition, I've been extremely motivated to work hard and train like never before for my goals. To back that up, I've been doing 20 to 25 hour weeks on the bike for the last 3 weeks. It's been extremely cold this week, but so far that has not stopped me from going out and train thank God. The cold temperatures are some of those obstacles that I need to surpass in order to achieve my goals and with the help of the Lord I'm doing just fine.

Also, I'm proud to say that I'll be riding for CRCA/Foundation Cycling Team this year. It's a great team and its growing every year thanks to the generous sponsors the team has. CRCA/Foundation will be doing many of the top NRC races starting with San Dimas Stage Race and Redlands Classic in March. These two races I have not done, but I'm exited and looking forward to perform well at these races. Now is a new year and with a new year comes a new mindset for me. It will be a new begining and I'm thankful for getting another chance to show my talent.

2009 Summer and Fall

Share
Hello Everyone,

I'm sorry for not giving updates as often as possible. Let me start by giving a recap of 2009 summer/fall.

Let me begin by saying that the 2009 summer and fall road season were extremely rough for me due to the lack of motivation, which heavy personal problems caused during this period of time. The problems that I was confronting at home took a toll on me very quickly. Little by little my time on the bike became a lot less and my racing performance was not the same anymore, which the evidence became clear when I tried to race in a few local races. For this reason, I stopped racing for the remainder of the summer.

In addition, the 2009 summer was going by fairly quick and the first day of going back to school was around the corner. When I got back to Lindsey Wilson College I was disoriented due to my situation back home. At this point in time I lacked motivation for everything I did which was not positive for me. When I tried riding my bike, I could only do an hour or less before turning back around. Even though I had a million problems in head, I pushed on and prayed to God everyday to help my family and help me bring back that spark in my life once again. Soon after, I started feeling much better because the situation back at home was turning from bad to great. I started working out and riding as often as I could which was a motivation booster. I knew God had listened to all my prayers and was helping me get through another rough period of time in my life. By the end of the fall semester, I managed to earn four A's and one B on my final report card which put me in the Dean's List for Honor Students and also started riding bike a lot more which I had missed immensely.

After finishing the fall semester at Lindsey Wilson College, I got home with a new uplifting spirit and seeing my parents, my brother, and the rest of my family made me feel much better. Everything at home was once again under control thanks to God. Now, with a new motivation and new goals I have for myself, the only thing I missing in my life was riding my bike, which I tried to pick up quickly. The harsh weather and freezing temperatures made it hard for me to go out and train, but after thinking about everything I went through during the summer and fall, made training under tough conditions and freezing temperatures a lot easier to do. Since then, I've been training consistently and getting ready for an exciting new road racing season and another semester at school.

Victory at Notre Dame!!!!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the late update. I've been very busy with school.

Last weekend the Lindsey Wilson College cycling team traveled to the University of Notre Dame to continue racing. Saturday was based on a 70 mile road race. The race was very tough, but Lindsey Wilson managed to get two riders in the winning breakaway, which were Josh Nagode and I. The breakaway was composed of 4 Marian riders, 2 Lindenwood, and two Lindsey Wilson. The breakaway split up with 3 laps to go due to the confusion I caused on the Marian riders. Four of the 8 riders ended up staying away, where my teammate Josh Nagode ended up in 4th Place.

On Sunday was the 35 mile Criterium. Overall the criterium was tough due to the massive flurries of attacks the entire race. Soon, I noticed that none of the attacks were staying away, so with 3 Laps to go I began setting up for the sprint. The Marian team lead the train, where I had perfect position right behind them. With 300 meters, the sprint started, and that's when I launched my sprint to the line. With second place 20 meters behind me, I gave my victory solute as I crossed the Finish Line. Without God's help I couldn't win this race, and I thank him for that. During this race I wanted to accomplish what I didn't in the road race which was a victory. I wanted to give everything I had to win, and thank God I achieved what I wanted.

Fine Weekend!!!

Hello Everyone,
Let me begin by saying....Thank God for this past weekend of racing!!
Well, this past weekend of racing in Depauw, IN was composed of a 64 mile road race followed by a 5 mile TTT (Team Time Trial) on Saturday and a Criterium on Sunday. Lindsey Wilson raced a fantastic Road Race. During the first lap, attacks were going and coming. Near the end of the first lap, I counter attacked a breakaway causing confusion between the riders. This confusion was what caused the final breakaway to form, which included two Indiana riders, one from Marian, one from Purdue, and two Linsey Wilson riders......Lewis Almonte and I. Behind the breakaway, our other teammates were doing a perfect job, controling every move the other
riders made. The breakaway ended up staying away
where I took the final dash to the line, and winning the race. I was very happy with the win and pleased on how Lindsey Wilson raced. This win was moral boost for me.

Followed by the Road Race was the TTT (Team Time Trial). The TTT team was composed of Kip Spaude, Clayton Omer, and Peter Smith. During the TTT we did the best we co
uld since we didn't have a complete Aero set up. We finished third!!!!! Well deserved.

Sunday was the criterium. The race was an hour long, around a park. On the first few laps, attacks were coming and going. Once again, I counter attacked another rider causing the peloton to split. The wind was a major factor, making the race more difficult. After I made my move, a 12 rider breakaway was formed, where Lindsey Wilson had 2 riders in it.....Kip Spaude and I. From that breakaway, another attacked was launched causing the break to split in half. My teammate made the split, which left me a free ride in the second group. Later on I tried to bridge across to the leading group, but my efforts were not enough. We finished
6th, 8th, and 10th for the day.

Overall, Lindsey Wilson had a fine weekend of racing taking the top
places in each event.....not bad for a program that is growing and
will continue to grow.
